I started buying audio books on cassette because I had an old car that only had a cassette player. I buy them in bulk to bid on E-Bay. The old portable cassette player I had was terrible. New batteries made the reader sound like it had just inhaled a helium balloon. So I bought another one for cheap. ERROR. Less than a year later, the plastic hinge holding the cassette door to the player broke off. This time I bought because of the quality. I had about 100 books on cassette that I hadn't listened to. I mean who wouldn't trust a Sony Walkman? It was worth it. The sound is good. Some of these books were removed from libraries and listened to many times. Movement does not upset this player. So far I have not regretted buying two of these devices. (I was afraid they would run out!) I have one at home for gardening and don't have to worry about where the Walkman is!
