Review on Dell U2518D LED Lit Monitor - Enhanced Compatibility for 2560X1440P by Justin Sharp

Ideal monitor for academic use

This is a great monitor for office use. I used to have a 27-inch Acer 1440p monitor which is pretty good quality, but I don't like it because: 1) the build quality isn't on par with Dell UltraSharp monitors, with a plastic feel and a bulky stand; 2) 1440p for 27 inches just isn't sharp enough, especially text, which seems pretty blurry if you're using a MacBook Pro like me; and 3) the panel quality brightness settings are not "correct". ": I often find myself turning the brightness to zero in low light conditions and still suffering from eyestrain. For this reason I try not to use it when the screen size is not critical to my tasks. I'm a graduate student and I have a lot of articles to read, so the quality of the text display, especially in PDF format, is very important to me.The Dell U2518d is the perfect size for 1440p resolution: texts are quite sharp, PDFs display well and I've never strived for a larger screen Also, I can now adjust the brightness to around 20%-30% in low light and my eyes thank me every day If you work with PDF/docs a lot like me, then this monitor is for you.
