Review on 🌸 ImpressArt Floral Swirl Design Stamp - 6mm by Amy Mcleod

I'm just starting out with metal stamping and have bought quite a few different dies. I prefer design over letters and numbers and thought this vine design would work for the many different projects I have planned. (My review of this will be very similar to my reviews of other ImpressArt dies as they share many similarities in terms of production etc.) For reference I use a steel workbench, copper slugs (usually 24 gauge) and a hammer weighing one Pound with brass head. I glue the blanks to the bench block while stamping (with masking tape). After that I sometimes tint the prints with Gilder's Black Paste. In any case, my setup worked very well with this stamp. It's harder to get right than many other stamps I've tried, but it's also a more complex design than some of the others I've purchased. I still have to hit the gavel more than twice to make a good impression (maybe I'm too shy?). Either way, it's important that your work surface is fairly stationary, so something like a sturdy table is essential. I've improved with practice, I wasn't good to begin with. So if you're thinking of stamping something expensive like sterling and you're a beginner, I highly recommend practicing with copper or brass first. I'll admit that I haven't attempted to stamp anything thicker or harder than 24 gauge copper, but this is the metal I will plan most of my future work with and this die is pretty good for copper.
