I've had Sony Walkman CD players in the past which were really good and worked well in my car. When my last device started having problems I immediately bought another Sony with the same good functionality. NO. There is no backlight in this block - try changing lanes in a dark car. The BIGGEST problem for me is that there is no "continue" function as in previous modules and no option to save settings. If you disconnect the power source (e.g. if you turn off the car) you lose the volume and track settings, so the device always returns to track 1 and does not resume playback from where you left off. An annoying beep sounds when switching from one track to another. You can turn this off, but if you turn the car off the setting is lost and you'll need to reset the 'beep off' setting. Finally, the block is difficult to open. Not a problem if you're using it for a walk, but a big problem if you're trying to change CDs at a stoplight in your car or in the dark. While the bounce protection is great and the sound is good enough, there just have to be better buys out there.
