deal of the century. Before you shell out $300-$600 for a high-end "audiophile " phono stage. Think about it:

Surprisingly clean sound for the money - competing phono stages I have. can be heard in the $400-700 range. This was to become the telephone preamp of the century. Runs quietly with tons of musical resolution, detail and soundstage. I don't have a problem with hum like another reviewer mentioned. Things improved even further in terms of transparency and soundstage when I switched to 12V DC battery operation with a small rechargeable lead-acid battery by connecting the supplied connector to the battery terminals. The 5Ah battery lasts around 40 hours of listening time on a single charge, but that's a nice difference - well worth the extra $12 to upgrade this little preamp. The sound became more detailed and warmer when I added an inexpensive Little Bear tube preamp, which was placed after the Pro Audio preamp mentioned above. This setup now plays vinyl like Gangster with my Pioneer P-L7 turntable, Nagaoka cartridges and 1958 Eico 6L6 monoblock amps. You can add a 12v battery and a Little Bear tube preamp for about $65 extra and you really have a very smooth system. Complete analog pleasure!
