I used a flat top cap with vent clip. The cap was hard to unscrew and hard to tell when it was secure, so apparently I overtightened and the cap wood cracked. You need to turn the bottle upside down and let the oil you use soak into the wooden cap. I didn't want to do this without the lid, but now that it's separate I definitely won't. I'm not sure I wanted to do this over and over again. It could be done while still attached to the vent but that would be awkward but I didn't want to keep taking it off and putting it back on the vent.
