This umbrella is very small when folded but is a standard size when opened (for one person). Ideal for adding to carry-on luggage or putting in a backpack. Well made, easy to open and close. Update: After using it for about 15 days I noticed some rust although I try to dry it off as soon as possible after use. The rust caused brown spots on the yellow I bought and some discoloration on the blue I bought. I also pointed out that even in moderate winds you MUST keep the umbrella upwind or it will fold over. In my opinion, this is a sign of bad design. I downgraded my rating to three stars because it's still a great compact umbrella for use in light to moderate rain, but I'm disappointed that the metal parts aren't stainless steel and won't stain.
