They are well built. I highly recommend them with SureFire earbuds. SureFire has earbuds that appear to be called "Sonic Defenders". I have some that I use for shooting and I remember reading the instructions for them that said you could remove the plastic core to put in the air hose for the radio. I never thought I would use it until I got into ham radio. The plastic core of the SureFire headphones has a small flap that can be opened to let in some noise. The point here is to block out most of the noise of the gunshots while still having enough hearing to hear those around you. In either case, this plastic core inside the earbuds can be removed to insert the air tube. You can also remove the soft ear tip that comes with these headphones. It was really easy to insert into my signature earbuds. The included earphone didn't fit my ear very well and wasn't very comfortable. The surefire earbuds are very comfortable and fit very well in the ear. This is the best you can use with it. The construction of this cable appears to be high quality. When I opened the package for it, it didn't feel cheap to me. The only thing that seemed cheap was a flimsy, crappy earbud. Spend $10 on a pair of SureFire Sonic Defender headphones to use with it and it makes this product great. If I didn't have these earbuds on hand I would probably give this piece a bad review as it doesn't stay in my ear and is uncomfortable out of the box.
