Review on Red Steel Ringside Prime Free-Standing Station For Boxing And MMA Heavy Bag Training by Tyler Suarez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent, sturdy construction. Reasonably quick installation. (Really awful installation instructions.)

I've always wanted to purchase a punching bag to add new exercises to my workout routine. Ultimately, I would prefer to have the bag hanging off the ceiling beam/rafter to allow for more mobility, but that was out of the question due to how my house was built. So, purchasing the bag kept being postponed year after year until I had a chance to review this Ringside Prime Heavy Bag Stand. The stand easily holds a 70 pound punching bag which I purchased at brick and mortar sporting goods for less than fifty dollars. The stand is sturdy enough without added weights, but to be completely safe, I've placed 35 pound dumbbells on both sides of the stand. As seen on the picture, the main beam that holds the bag is attached to the lower bar/tube and is supported by two additional tubes on each side. The main tube is tall. I'm 6' 2" and I can barely reach the top of the tube with my hand. You will definitely need a helper to hook the bag's chain to the top of the stand. One will have to hold the bag, while another is attaching the chain. Due to the limitations of the stand's design, this bag is most useful for boxing exercises, since kicking and moving around the bag may be a bit tricky due to the stand's base.As far as the assembly instructions go, and as previous reviewer has already mentioned, it is extremely user-unfriendly. If I could rate the product on the manual separately, I would not give the instructions that came with the stand a single star. The instructions are confusing, are hard to read and follow, and the number of parts and sizes pretty much don't match the actual contents of the bag. None of the bolts or nuts are marked properly or can be identified easily. Their quantity (partially) does not correspond with the instructions. I had to use a ruler with a millimeters scale to measure the bolts and try make sense of the instructions. Also, you will need a a couple of good wrenches or a ratcheting wrench tool set to complete the installation.Overall however, it is a well-built stand that works as as advertised. The assembly was not overly complicated and can be done by one person. The stand will allow you to start doing punching bag exercises in no time.
