They are very sharp and cut very cleanly. Cuts mild steel with no problem. Cut stainless steel with ease, and while not ideal for that, I've used them on aluminum as well because they were the right size and already in the spindle. The cuts in the aluminum were as clean and beautiful as anything else. Haven't tried it in hardened 4140 or 4340 yet but I expect the same results. The cutting of steel was done with coolant and the aluminum was treated with dry air to remove the chips. I will buy more of these in the future. my new darling
