I have replaced the Intermatic t101 mechanical timer with this unit. It is installed in my house but has a weather seal. I am currently using the SmartLife app for other devices so adding it was easy. In the app it gives me a history of every turn on or off so I can see that a simple program I set up in the app is working. You no longer have to go down to the basement to turn on the pump manually. Now we just ask Alexa to do it or use the Smartlife app. The device has a button to turn it on and off if for some reason you encounter connection problems. However, we did not have to use this function. I would definitely buy another one if I needed one.
