Review on Enhanced Shop Fox D2057A Small Charcoal Grey Adjustable Mobile Base - Unlock Stellar Performance by Punk Espinoza

Great design but lousy manufacturing standards and quality control

If you buy this mobile base you will be satisfied with it once you assemble it and put the tool on it. But the key phrase here is "once you collect it". Trust me I have collected many products over the years and it took a lot of patience and unnecessary work to put this one together. As other reviewers have pointed out, there is sweat slag on and in some parts. that interfere with their assembly. In particular, mine had a tube into which the leveling feet had to be inserted. None of these were suitable as excess welding debris was deposited in the pipes. I had to take a dremel tool with a sanding tip and reach in to sand out any debris for the legs to slide in. Thanks to the other reviewers for letting me know about this situation so I was prepared! But that pales in comparison to the sheer stupidity of the crossbars. Each of the four rods - these are the ones marked Shop Fox in the picture - are used for adjustment. They come in and out of corners and are attached with bolts. A great idea. You don't want to have to push them too far out of the corners or the entire base will become too unstable, so the bars are marked with the word MAX and a line showing the maximum amount they can be pulled out. Here's the incredibly stupid part. They stamped the word and line so hard on the bar that they deformed the steel and buckled it in that area. As a result, the bars do not slip into corners! Once I finally figured out why the bars weren't sliding inward, I had to hammer the sides of the bars with a small sledgehammer to snap them back into shape. Four staffs with two punches each, so eight sections had to be put back into shape! The dumbest piece of production I've ever seen. The base can be mounted around your instrument which is why I bought it in my case. I couldn't get my 380 lb bandsaw exactly in place. But the instructions didn't make much sense so I had to disassemble that part of the assembly and come up with my own way of assembling the base around the saw. On a positive note the base arrived safe and sound, all parts are safe and sound. The instructions were clear except for the part mentioned above. You have several options for attaching casters. My very heavy saw rolls well on the base and is stable when the legs are down. Ultimately, I can recommend the foundation, albeit with reservations. Allow plenty of time for the build and make sure you have enough patience!
