They're pretty sharp and would do their job well if the little buttons that act as a spring to open the blades actually worked. They look a bit crooked and long and just don't do the job. I clipped a small cuticle that needed trimming and found the pliers had closed halfway down the cut skin, but I had to maneuver my fingers to pry them open by hand, risking the skin to tear. The cuticle pusher works great and the BACK of the extra sharp blade helps scrape the skin stuck to the nail. The blade is so sharp that I wouldn't use the front end as it could scratch my nails. This little tool is the only thing I have left. When I'm not using it on my nails I'm sure I'll find a use for it in my craft box. The hair clipper which was the main purpose of this purchase is being sent to the trash.
