Ah, but that's what Obi-Wan said about Luke's father "from a certain angle." My experience was this: I unpacked the fan motor and found that it had pro football spikes on it and the mounting flange was slightly bent. Using needle nose pliers I straightened the flange as much as possible and checked the electrical connector to make sure it was compatible (it was). I was trying to get my 56 year old self to remove the old motor and test it on the new one for fit and performance. My application is a 1993 Nissan D21 2x2. The new fan motor did not fit at all. I'm letting my youngest son try it as he still has strong arm stretching skills which I seem to have lost or only existed with the chemical enhancement. He managed to get the screws in, but even aligning the motor (the holes are slotted) to a center point that allows the fan cage to spin freely took a very long time. Don't overtighten or the fan will rub. So far so good, the fan motor works as it should, doesn't fail and is much quieter than the original. Fan speeds are different. The low speed is a comfortable whisper that doesn't sound much like pumpkin when it's very hot outside, but a high setting causes frizz and dries out your eyes. I've got a new air conditioner in my truck, and it's cold enough at speed to reconsider my life choices. If the fit had been better and the device hadn't suffered, I would have given more stars.
