The literature suggests this is an amazing WiFi extender that is easy to set up and works flawlessly. I have a Netgear Nighthawk 1900 router, which itself has been commended for significantly extending dual WiFi ranges. I bought it to tie into a home theater about 80 feet from my home office. and on the second floor. The router was unable to send me a consistent, clean 2.4 or 5 GHz signal to my WiFi-enabled home theater device. As a result, I bought this extension hoping that I could solve this problem. So far I haven't had much luck with it. Setting up an expander is neither easy nor straightforward. However, it was difficult to find a place in the house to fully extend the basic router's WiFi signal. The extension turns red when out of range of the Nighthawk. This supposedly tells you it doesn't work well in a red light zone. But anywhere in my house I get the blue light I want, but that in no way guarantees I'll get a strong signal for my home theater. Some days the signal seems strong and I can get 1080P quality. But there are other days where the best I can get is 480P when 1080P is available. This is of course very annoying as the extension cord is not cheap. While it looks well built and of good quality, it doesn't live up to its good looks and heavy weight. I ran it to no fewer than 6 outlets looking for that clean, clear signal. I get a solid blue light in every outlet. But when I go to video on UTube, I have a 50/50 chance of getting a quality video signal even though my home theater WIFI device tells me it's getting a STRONG signal. I didn't use TP-Link chat to figure out what I did wrong. But the literature, the box cover, and some reviews lead me to believe that this expensive extension cable was the solution to my video quality problems. Until this happened.
