I used this to hold the captive bead for the belly ring and pinch the ring if needed to ensure it was snug on the bead. The notch in the clamping surface was useful for this purpose, but the clamping surface is wide enough to hamper its usefulness if, for example, you need needle nose pliers but only have regular ones. I also found this clamp to be a bit small even for a 12mm diameter ring. After receiving it I checked again if there was a size option I could have missed but no. He's just small. Worked for my needs with a tighter ring clamp but barely big enough. The metal is of very good quality, smooth and has enough weight to make you feel like you're holding a tool and not a toy. I wish there was some sort of spring on the handle so it opens with a touch. This makes it easier to use.
