These RJ45 Keystones work great without patch tool

I was hesitant to buy keystones and wall plates based on the many comments on the subject in general but like many others I wanted to set up a network. I ended up buying Keystones (model CL0080) from CableCreations. I also had issues with a purchased perforation tool (as others have mentioned) damaging a couple of keystones. Each wire slot in the capstone has two opposing electrical contacts that are tapered and set at a 45Β° angle (with respect to the slot). The two contacts moved apart in parallel due to the stamping tool. I found that no tools are required. I have noticed and considered the fact that the trapezoidal cap/cover has burrs that force and hold the wiring into the narrow part of the slots. After securing the extra wire in each jack, I stripped the insulation at the contact point in each designated jack. After inserting a wire into each pin just enough to ensure the wire was held while I installed the cap, I then used a vise to convince the cap to latch. I hand started the cap, placing the vise jaws on each side and gently lowering the caps until they snapped into place. I cut off the excess wire with small wire cutters. Twenty-eight total installed, all twisted pair except one (corrected), tested without problems. They were all continuity tested with a $10 network cable tester. Deployed nine connections so far, I've had no problems. I have to say I installed 23 gauge solid wire and can't comment on stranded wire. Finally. I have used Cable Matters Keystone Wall Plates, mostly 4 port plates (model 180019-N) and have had no problem installing or removing the Keystone Keystones (small flat/regular screwdriver). 4 stars because I had to sacrifice Keystone as part of the learning process. that I installed 23 gauge solid wire and can't comment on stranded wire.
