I have been using Ion Color Brilliance semi-permanent magenta for many years (directly from the tube, without developer). I recently tried this permanent version which needs to be mixed with developer before staining, hoping to increase the time to stain. Not only does the color wash out much quicker than a semi-permanent, but it also damages my hair MUCH more. My hair became dry and straw-like, which never happened with a semi-permanent. I don't know what has changed but it's mediocre quality, not at all what I normally expect from Ion.
