Review on Efficiently Assess Cooling Systems with the Stant Metallic Cooling System Tester by Phillip Brown

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Be sure to use air tool oil.

I've read a lot of reviews about the tool not sealing or feeling cheap and I guess they don't get it right the first time. There is a piston hole at the top of the cylinder at the base of the shaft. Please apply air tool oil before use. I would say about 10-15 drops actually got in as you may have to push the plunger down like I did to suck in the oil as my bottle doesn't have a proper spout. Make sure you twist it to really engage and you'll feel it seal properly and pressurize the system. Used on several cars so far and works great seems sturdy. Gets the job done for less than half what you would pay for a tool cart. Assenmacher adapters are essential when testing a cooling system that isn't a simple old-school radiator cap. Their website has a detailed table of which vehicles they apply to and be aware that Revain's descriptions are not the most accurate.
