Review on 🤖 Yahboom Robotic Raspberry DOFBOT by Allison Garcia

I always get excited when Yahboom releases a new Raspberry Pi kit because I buy them all. But that's a question I've been asking for years. While I like assembly (like building blocks for big kids), it requires very little assembly effort. The arm itself comes pre-assembled, as he felt it might be too complex for the intended audience. You just have to assemble it and connect it to the base. Since the kit is for either NANO or Pi, half of the parts shown in my photo are optional :) which is always nice when you build as much as I do. The documentation is simple and user-friendly. As with all newer kits, there is already a video on YouTube that will walk you through each step of the build. This demo provides exceptional clarity on anything in the documentation that you may have trouble with. As with all of their kits, their website has a wealth of information, tutorials, code examples, and apps for Dofbot. The phone app is surprisingly feature-rich. Lots of different ways to interact and experiment with an already programmed hand. Including gesture and color recognition via the supplied camera. Lots of Python code samples to help you get started with your own applications too. There are a few new items in this set that are nice improvements. The kit includes a micro SD card with the Pi image already installed and ready to run. The Pi's image responds to a button press on the motherboard and puts it into WiFi learning mode, which uses the camera to read a QR code generated by the app. They also included their Pi RGB Hat, a colorful fan with an attached multi-line display. Very useful as it shows the Pi's current IP address when connected to a network. This robot instantly became my favorite. :) Highly recommended.
