Excellent low budget microphone when connected to a high quality preamp! If you plan to connect this mic to a DSLR, you will most likely introduce a lot of noise into your recording! DSLRs are notorious for poor quality preamps! You can get an excellent low-noise recording by using a digital recorder like the Zoom H4N or recorder like Tascam and syncing your track to your video in post. The 14.17"/36cm Neewer® directional microphone has a clear, bright sound and is not as bass-heavy. For the best sound, hold the microphone no further than 3 to 90 cm from the sound object and ensure that the microphone is mounted on a shock mount for best performance. You should also be aware that this is a mono microphone. All in all a bargain at this price point! In fact I have already ordered another one as a replacement! Thank you very much!
