My nephew LOVES painting. He loves water. He loves clutter and craft time can get out of control. It's fun, but sometimes you need an alternative. That's it. We take them with us everywhere. He is 3 years old and loves to see the colors appear when he "paints". It's a fun way to keep him entertained for an hour. We love all Melissa and Doug products. This one is in the top 5. It has 6 of them, and we love that you can draw, colors appear, they dry, and the color goes away. You can always have fun. Highly recommended.
