I needed something to help him walk so he doesn't pull due to knee osteoarthritis. Tried different straps to no avail. I still haven't used a shock just pulse (sound only), it took 5 minutes and Shilo is now walking right next to me and constantly following my commands. He is obedient and wears no collar at our gates. He jumped over my furniture but no more. I tell him to lie down and he lies down immediately. Again, you have options for Pulse (sound), Vibration (no beat, just vibrate) or Shock. I just had to use the impulse, no vibration or shock, which I think is a win-win. This collar is worth the money if you want a more obedient dog give it a try. He also knows exactly what it is when he sees me picking up the remote control. This is the very first train I built and it was easy and successful. I let him roam free in the back yard with his collar on. I called him but he didn't come. I called him again and said "Come on", he ignored, I used the pulse, he came to me immediately and has been coming to me ever since. Now he obeys the command "Come to me". This collar works.
