Review on πŸ’œ Renewed Samsung Galaxy Note 8, 64GB in Orchid Gray for AT&T Customers by Agata Olszewska ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I am satisfied with the product, it is made well, the price is also pleasing.

As the owner of Note3 and Note4, I was waiting with interest for Note8 after the fiasco of the 7th. Since there are no other flagships with a stylus, there is not much choice. Well, maybe not to take frank hack-work, like Note5 and Note9, in which improvements cannot be seen with the naked eye. These phones will last 2 and 3 years without any problems with performance and obsolescence. About fragility. Yes, the phone looks like it will shatter when dropped, but in my opinion it is impossible to put it in a case. At the moment, he seriously fell 4 times, 3 on tiles, 1 time on a metal beam (with a wheel that) of the base of the chair. Always from about desk height. And each time the main blow fell on the plastic part of the rib (After that, the plane hit the floor). As a result, there are small cavities on the edge, and in the worst case, micro-scratches on the glass. Maybe it's luck, but I won't buy a case anyway. As a result, the phone turned out to be very successful in terms of the set of parameters, perhaps almost at the level of Note3, which for me personally will remain the best creation of Korean engineers, which at the time of release had only pluses. Since then, Samsung has made a number of mediocre decisions, copying the general trends and adding a spoonful of humus to each of its subsequent devices in the line. I doubt very much that the upcoming N10 will be the same step forward as the N8. Samsung lived up to expectations with the presentation of the 10th note, as usual stepping on the same rake.

Pros
  • I must say right away that the phone is very successful (in the note line), despite its minuses, the pros outweigh the pros. Here they are in my opinion: - The screen is beautiful. Amoled, high resolution and quite bright. There is no pinkish tint to white, as on Note4. great "blue filter" function. - New form factor makes it more comfortable to hold compared to Note 4. - The camera is quite worthy of a flagship, and at the time of release was one of the best. In the line for the first time with a double module. - 3 authorization methods: by face, by iris, and by fingerprint. Most often I use face unlock, Iris and finger are considered biometric information and are suitable for autofilling passwords and activating any wallets like Samsung Pay. - The possibility of wireless charging allows you to save the connector, and it's more convenient than a plug. - Just an indescribable pleasant feeling from the phone in hand. The glass case, the absence of sharp transitions and tangible backlashes gives the feeling that you are holding a monolith in your hands. For all the time of using mobile phones, this is the first time for me. - Stylus. They are very comfortable doing many things, like taking screenshots, editing and sending them right away, or taking notes in OneNote, or scratching their ears. Samsung with Note3 got me hooked on this unfortunate pen, which you use well if once a day, and now for me a phone without a pen does not exist. - At the moment (07202222) it costs 31k, which would make me buy it if I had not bought it earlier. - Gear VR.
Cons
  • Where do without them. - The infamous pulsed backlight starts to flicker when the brightness is reduced, as in Note 4. The resolution is redundant in my opinion, and the phone allows you to reduce it, in one and increase autonomy. - Unusual form factor does not match the standard video format, and most games, which means you have to endure stripes around the edges. The rounding of the screen, according to the phone, is a full-fledged work area, and controls and information will periodically appear there, which causes certain inconveniences. - The telephoto lens of the 2nd camera has a magnification of x2, what a magnification. Controlling the camera from a Samsung is inconvenient and raises many questions, for example, why can't you turn on the flashlight when the camera is working. - As I understand it, authorization on the face is trite with the help of a camera, it does not work in low light. The iris does not work well on the contrary when the background light is too bright, the fingerprint works quickly and without errors, but is located at the back. - Wireless charging is good for everyone, but it is not included and it is not fast. - Because of the aesthetic pleasure of the body, I absolutely do not want to wear a cover, which is fraught. However, for almost a year I managed to never drop it. - The stylus is addictive. Even tablets you will be looking for with it. - My first phone with a non-removable battery, and today, after almost 2 years, it does not even hold daylight hours. If you turn off all interfaces and switch to energy saving, then it will last a day. But if you are going to actively use it, then a power bank is necessary. - Mono speaker that is easy to close with your finger. - So far, it has not been possible to use the Bixbi functionality, and a whole button has been allocated for it.
