Works incredibly well on silk. I have two light silver gray pillowcases that I wanted to dye a darker charcoal and after reading some of the reviews I figured using less of the black color would work well. Some of the Jet Black reviews say it doesn't absorb very well - I suspect people using the dye may be unaware of the true fiber content of what they are dying. This dye only works well with natural fibers - my 100% silk pillowcases took on color in a few minutes. The instructions indicate that for the stovetop staining method you need to stir it for about 30 minutes - I let it sit for about 10 minutes because I wanted a charcoal, not a deep black. I've still gotten a jet black in less time, and the labels and stitching on the pillowcases were completely unaffected by color because they're polyester. If you notice stains, your fabric may not be 100% natural fibers. Rinse well after dyeing, the fabric will bleed a little. Your fabric is not 100% natural fibers.
