It's made of plastic, like the Chinese-made OEM case, but works great for the money. Unbeknownst to me, the guys at the speed shop who installed a 2.9 liter whipple fan to replace the stock 1.7 liter fan on my Z broke the bypass on the stock thermostat housing. They glued it on with super glue or used some kind of gumbo to make it stick. Miraculously it lasted 2 years and over 3,000 miles. A billet aluminum version made by a Vette tech cost me a whopping $350+. It works, just take it with the clamps and mounting hardware.
