OK but having trouble hanging

This is a good size grow box measuring 9" x 6" and 7" tall. It is designed to be hung inside or outside the cage on 2 plastic hangers. However, the brackets are too wide to fit between the bars of my cage. The width between the vertical bars is 1/2 inch and the hangers are 1/2 inch at the bottom but taper to almost 3/4 inch. The only way they fit is by bending the bars of the cage or placing them on horizontal bars by the door. Some reviewers said they used duct tape or attached it to the bottom of the cage. I decided to put it in one of the two front doors of my flight cage. However, the door needs to be at least 9 inches wide for it to work. Hanging on a door also prevents access to the cage through that door, which I don't like. The hangers are thick plastic and could probably be put down, but I haven't tried. It's a plastic box, easy to keep clean, with a door to view eggs or hatchlings. It has a plastic liner that can be removed for cleaning and I love that. The entrance hole is 2" in diameter, big enough for parrots or slightly larger birds. There is a perch in front of the hole and then a 4 1/2 inch drop to the bottom of the grow box. It doesn't seem to bother my birds. The main problem is the thickness of the hangers. If so, bars are wider than 1/2" They will likely mean wider bars however usually larger birds, and they may not fit through the inlet. Update 02/17/2014: I have adjusted the birdhouse using information given to me by one of the Reviewer given W. Hosman I also placed the perch upright in front of the aviary as my budgies seemed to have difficulty getting into the aviary due to the plastic perch that was provided.
