I have always used cloth oven mitts and oven mitts. They know what happens when they're wet or too skinny. So I decided to do a little research and see what multiple websites listed as the best. The Oxo Goodgrips Silicone Oven Mitts was one I've seen on sale a lot. I decided to give it a try. It cost more than I would have spent on my old guy, but I wanted to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. i like the color You can either place your hand to use or leave it on your back to use. They have a small silicone ring for hanging. They only come individually in a package. Upon initial inspection of my new oven mitt, it seemed very strong, well made and really good quality. I cook and bake a lot. So I was very excited to try it. MARVELOUS! What was I thinking, buying just one of them? i am a crazy woman I went and ordered a second one, if that tells you anything. The front is silicone with little grippy tabs that really help to grab and hold hot pans and the like and keep them from slipping. My first test was baking something in a 450 degree oven. I used my old oven mitt and this fancy new one. I decided to see which would heat up first, the old one I had folded in half or the new one. I will say that I had to lower the side with the OLD potholders about three seconds after removing it from the oven, but I continued to hold on to the new potholder. I held the pan for 84 seconds until I got tired and BEFORE the new one was hot. Right after that I bought a second potholder. They are much easier for me to deal with. They just hang on a hook above my oven. I will be buying more, and even the potholder version. I will also buy as a gift. They are fabulous and worth every penny. I love it.
