Documentation sucks. It took me three days to figure it out. Here's what you need to know to trace an underground wire: a) DISCONNECT power to that wire. Buy one of these touch testers (lights up when the cable is live) to be 100% sure. Is Your Life Worth $26? b) Disconnect the black wire from the control box. c) Connect the red wire NF-816) Here's the first trick: Don't connect it to the neutral or ground wire in the switch box. Instead, take a long screwdriver and drive it into the ground from the outside. Take a long wire (it took me 30 feet of wire to get out) and connect one end to a screwdriver and the other to the black terminal on the NF-816. Make sure your dog/kids don't trip over this cable as it could injure your head. d) Turn on the NF-816 at maximum volume and cable. Testse) Take the removed part of NF-816 and go outside. Crank it up all the way, don't use headphones (if you don't want to go deaf)f) Here's the second trick: It makes popping noises, various noises, belching and other madness all the time. Once you're over the cable, it gets quiet. Go back and forth, you will find a wire. g) Here is the third trick: Depth? I never understood it, I was just digging until I came across a channel.
