Review on Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM lens, black by Abhijit Abhijit ᠌

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not at all what I expected.

I took this lens after the 85L II in the hope that I would get something similar with a shorter focal length, since 85 was a bit too much for my subjects. As a result - apparently the most senseless lens of the L series, of all that I had to use. The picture cannot be compared with the 85L II and 70-200L II, the bokeh is indistinct and weakly expressed, the exact focus on the maximum open aperture is about the same rarity as on the 85L II, but almost everything can be forgiven for 85ke for its picture, this nothing much to be proud of. When shooting, it is also difficult to understand whether it hit or not until you look at the result with maximum magnification. The picture seems "refined", devoid of any distinctive features. No "eggs" 85ki in the open, no "twisting" of the background on full-length portraits, no bright colors and play of light 70-200, there is nothing in it . I sold it and have no regrets. I changed it to 70-200/2.8 L II and I'm happy with everything (except for the size and weight). It's a bit different from what I originally wanted, but the emotions are purely positive. And the use of focal 200 is easy to find.

Pros
  • Red stripe. This is where the merits end.
Cons
  • Focus HA Color Design reliability . yes almost everything.
