Good bags but smaller than expected

Although these are really good shoe bags, they are a bit smaller than I expected. As someone who wears a size 8 in women's clothing, I was surprised to find that I had trouble putting pairs of shoes in a bag that ended just above the ankle. They're great for flat shoes or sneakers, but less useful for things like hiking boots, which I often find most valuable.
