I needed very unique lighting for a static tank I was planning to install and this was perfect for me. The dimmer is a little touchy and the dimming range is only a fraction of the physical range of the dial, but the full LED output pleases my plants. The growth rates are excellent and not a day goes by that I get tired of seeing pearls falling off my plants. The only downside is the temperature of the lamp. The heat shield fins can cool the bulb, but it still gets pretty hot compared to other LED assemblies. I assumed it wasn't that unexpected because the light was coming out. The average body temperature of the device is 148.5 degrees Fahrenheit. The neck just above the lamp is warm, but about an inch away, the rest of the assembly stays cool or room temperature to the touch. Lightbulbs got hotter many years ago. than that if I'm not mistaken.
