This is the best safety gate I've seen. I have about 10 baby gates at home and none of them cost 2 cents. The pull gates just don't hold in place compared to a toddler - probably a baby, but definitely not a two-year-old boy. I've been using accordion-style wooden gates for a year, but they've only lasted this long thanks to liberal use of duct tape and good old-fashioned ingenuity. It is very durable, even on plastic hinges and wall mounts. The gate swings easily and smoothly and can be conveniently operated with one hand. Installation is incredibly easy - the mounting brackets slide freely up and down the end rails and rotate freely too, allowing you to mount them at any height and location. the angle you need, giving you the extra flexibility to adjust the gate to your liking. The hinge points have convenient knobs to loosen the hinge points to reconfigure or fold the device for storage, or tighten them to keep the device as strong and durable as you want it to be. I only have one so I couldn't test the extension with additional sections, but it seems simple enough. If you just want to temporarily shield the area from a small toddler just starting to walk or dogs, you can choose not to mount it at all. By arranging the 3 panels at an angle to each other rather than in a straight line, the unit sits freely and firmly in place. I only found two things I want to change. 1) The gate lock is so easy to use that my three year old grandsons will soon figure out how to open it easily. I'll fix this ASAP as I'm using this gate to prevent them from accessing a grand staircase. Fortunately, the design of the door lock allows for several possible solutions. 2) The mounting brackets attach with just two screws each, and the holes are centered so the vertical bar that the brackets attach to gets in the way of your screwdriver or drill. I would make the brackets larger and use four off-center bolts instead of two to make tightening the bolts easier. I would have preferred a bigger block because at only 31 inches tall I don't think that would fit. more than slows the boys down - especially since it doesn't have proper toe supports to help them climb, but I'm pretty sure they'll soon figure out how to pull themselves up using just their upper limbs. Fall Strength I've seen very wide configurable units like this and I've seen very tall units a panel wide enough for a door, but if there are very wide configurable units that are also very tall I haven't found them.
