The mount holds this GPS securely. I've had no problem syncing it to my phone and using the Smartlink app, although I do want to disable the app on my phone when I'm not using it. It accepts commands from the phone with no problem. I tend to use more than one GPS on my truck because I still don't trust them, but this unit hasn't put me in a bad position yet and has been used daily for the past few months throughout the Northeastern states, as well as most of Ontario , California. I had no problem figuring out how to use it because it's very intuitive and makes what it does pretty clear.
