I have two 20 gallon, 3 gallon cubes (quarantine tank) and 10 gallon grow tank and I am a Switch Master Water (self-proclaimed ). I'm here to review the AquaMiracle 3-in-1 Aquarium Water Changer Kit, which costs $24.99 at the time of review - mid-range for a gravel vacuum that also has some nice accessories. First, this vacuum has what I'm looking for in an aquarium vacuum. I like hand pump siphons, I just find it easier - if you've never done this before, they're best for water changes (that don't require access to a sink) and removing dirt from your tank - one end in a bucket, another in the tank, pump the ball a couple of times which will start the flow and you're on your way. This vacuum has a fairly wide opening on the tank side, almost 3 inches, which is great for a quick clean, but be careful with small fish, shrimp and snails, the tip of the vacuum doesn't shine through, and that may be my only gripe . since you can't see pop-up detritus (or fish, god forbid) unless you're watching the tube. The hose is flexible enough to be squeezed and slow the flow of water so it doesn't suck too much out too quickly - this hose has a good flow feature at the end of the bucket, an on/off/choke valve. The "unplugged" part is handy to avoid accidentally pouring water all over the place when you're ready to pull the clamp out of the bucket (because there's always water in it). The bucket clamp is also very handy - one of my siphons doesn't have one, and I've dumped it and the water from the bucket onto the floor on more than one occasion. Just long enough for me to have my 5 gallon bucket on the bottom and my 20 gallon bucket on top. The bonus here is that you get a good mesh and wiper (I have glass tanks so can't say if this is safe on acrylic, but it doesn't seem that rough to me). That's more than some of my previous siphons - most of the ones I've bought are just siphons. Also, some I've tested have parts that fall off or fall apart - this one is very durable - no fancy installation tools are provided, but I've found that they often fall off easily too. It's simple but works well. If you are new to this you might be looking for clear vacuum tips but other than that you won't regret getting these and the extra accessory is what you need even if you already have it. And a tip for newbies: always have separate tools for each tank, you don't want to spread diseases between your tanks, it's a nightmare.
