Good inverter for my use

There was a problem with the unit (faulty bypass circuit), had to send it back and fix it. To Aims Power's credit, they paid for round-trip shipping (which would have been around $50 each way). Everything happens, don't worry too much about it. The inverter shop was not very helpful. The price is low, but they just refuse to ship and never see the product, so Aims Power ships it. They were more of a nuisance than helpful - if I hadn't gone through Aims, the inverter store would have made me wait for delivery. As for the inverter itself, I'm mostly satisfied. I use it in a fifth wheel RV application for various circuits including a domestic refrigerator. Most of the time it's only running at around 6-8% capacity to run the fridge, keeping everything going from place to place with minimal battery drain for a full day's travel, but with minimal recharging from the tow vehicle. . I ran the setup for five hours at a higher load with two 6 volt batteries connected in parallel with a 12 volt battery and the total voltage drop was only about 1.5 volts. The charging function and circuitry work as advertised and the remote panel gives enough information to properly monitor what is happening. detour to work. When you turn off the inverter, the circuits it powers receive no power at all. This may be normal, but living in an RV with the fridge running all the time means the inverter never turns off. I really can't tell if this is a bad thing and other than enabling the manual transfer feature, I don't know what I would suggest as an improvement. Let's see how long-term the reliability will be in the application.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Protection
