UPDATE: These items have shrunk 2 inches after washing! I ordered Medium (9/10) in blue and red. After washing, they measure 14.5 inches from waist to hem. My son loves them! It was about the same size as Carter's cotton pajama sets, so I bought him a pair of pants off Amazon. The main thing I wanted was 100% cotton for my child who overheats at night. This is a soft cotton t-shirt material and the elastic waistband is great - not too tight or bulky. My son is 6 years old and wears a size 7 or 8 Old Navy pants. He put them on and they look a bit big but they are perfect for sleeping and he has some room to grow. I expected some shrinkage after washing, so I took the measurements into account when ordering. They hit below the knee before washing and I would compare them to basketball shorts for size and fit. The only thing that confuses me is the color of the blue shorts. My son was upset that they look "purple" because we are used to dark blue which is more saturated. These are a little pastel. It's okay, but if you have a picky child, they might notice.
