I have two computers hooked up to the same monitor (for which I'm using an HDMI splitter). I purchased this product so I could use the same keyboard, mouse, and other USB items from one common point and not have to switch plugs back and forth. It works great after some initial trial and error. For instance, I had a keyboard and mouse that ran on one USB stick which seemed to interfere with the switch and cause delays with typing. When I introduced a mouse with its own separate plug, that seemed to improve things. Plugging in other devices, such as speakers, headphones, external CD drives, external hard drives, and cameras, has worked like a charm.If you're using multiple computers, then this is a must!
