Perhaps someone will prove to be helpful. It appears that the 9-series is supported out of the box by the Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X motherboard, which was previously used to install the 8700. Despite this, the 9700k would not start under any circumstances. It turned out that the F6 bios firmware that I had did not support the R0 stepping that my CPU had. I was quite disappointed to learn this. It's a good thing there are a few different computers in the home because I was able to download the F8 firmware to the flash drive, install it using Q-Flesh, and get everything set up.
