I had a teddy bear that you could write a message on by pressing his left foot and play it by pressing his right leg squeezed . He was charming until a thunderstorm made him speak spontaneously, after which he never spoke again. I thought maybe we could play around with that instead. And it really works. You remove the cello's protective case - the battery is included - flip the switch to the 'Record' position - and record your message, lasting no more than thirty seconds. You then flip the switch to play, and whenever the heart contracts, a message will play. If you put it in a plushie, that message is forever - you can only overwrite it if your plush person has open-heart surgery and you're juggling switches again (which seems drastic). The quality of the recording is a bit muted and sounds like the first telephone recorders from the 1980s - you can hear the mechanics working in the background (this may be because I re-recorded several times). We didn't put it in the stuffed animal, but I slipped it under my husband's pillow (here's always a joker) and it was definitely hard to hear. which are quite large and easy to sew, or an extra pillow for the bed, but for something smaller, the heart is too big to fit. And it's a bit primitive and awkward as you can only record once and it's a record that you'll listen to forever/whenever your heart skips a beat. But it's definitely fun to play with.
