Owned DIR-655 with A4 equipment for almost 3 years. Last week it started freezing and restarting sometimes with the power light blinking. If I had to rate my old router I would give it 5 stars for being an amazing workhorse. Now for the present. Last week I bought a new DIR-655 with B1 equipment. Updated firmware from 2.10 to 2.11, made a few changes to the config. I took the router out of the box for about 10 minutes. The power indicator starts flashing orange and turns orange after a few seconds. Nothing will return this router. Sent it back for a refund, ordered another and thought I got a lemon. Get my second DIR-655 with B1 hardware. With firmware 2.10 it works perfectly. I set it up, rebooted, it works fine. Leave it and work for about an hour, it will restart spontaneously. So. I save my configuration, update to firmware 2.11NA. Stupid thing doesn't take my ONLY saved config file so I had to reconfigure it manually. Finally got up and switched to firmware 2.11NA after several reconfigurations and reboots. It works perfectly, only after 2 hours it restarts spontaneously. And that, although only ONE computer and NO WLAN clients are connected to it. So, I restarted the router, after half an hour everything is fine. So I turn on the WiFi, configure it and start again. Looks good, five people are using it, one wired (me) and four wireless. 45 minutes after this spontaneous reboot. I check the internet and the D-Link site for any suggestions or configurations and go through the guides I've found (some from D-Link, others from D-Link and related forums) for what enables/disables should be when DIR - 655 is slow or reboots. Did not help. Approximately every 2-3 hours, DIR-655 spontaneously reboots. I make my living in IT infrastructure, so I'm pretty sure I'm not. D-Link, I don't know what happened to you recently, but you somehow wrecked your DIR-655 router en masse. No quality control or detailed troubleshooting. From what I see online regarding this issue, there are hundreds if not thousands of people reporting this issue with very little success in resolving it. Goodbye D-Link, everything has been good so far :-)
