They were great for converting the candelabra bulbs in my ceiling fans to regular sized bulbs. I have used LED bulbs and my rooms are much brighter. The sockets "push out" the bulb so that the bulbs are not completely covered by the lampshades. If you have a ceiling fan with bulbs pointing upwards, you should check the gap between the top of the bulb and the fan blades to ensure there is enough clearance.
