I am renovating a 1994 motor home. The deadbolt key on the original lock was missing and I decided to just buy a new handle/lock. Originally I was going to use a standard key set, but then I decided to invest in keyless entry. I believe if I spent money to change something I could do it right. My keypad lock arrived yesterday and I was excited to start installing it. The first thing that struck me is HEAVY! Well it seems to me. Maybe I'm just weak. But I'm sure it weighs because it's all metal, which is definitely a plus. It can withstand a lot of wear and tear and mishandling. It was very easy to install. I was even able to watch tutorial videos on YouTube which was very helpful. All the problems I had were due to the previous owners' sloppy work. I'm finding more and more of these the deeper I get into this RV conversion project. Now that it's installed, everything works great and smoothly. I had a bit of an issue programming my new code because my fingers just weren't typing fast enough before programming mode expired. But in the end he accepted my code and now everything is fine. The instructions were very clear and explained how to turn off the sound with no beeps. I noticed that some people have commented on the horn sound. It's not loud. I actually like it so I know it logs what keys I press so I don't get confused and type 2x or more. And probably the only thing that can let me down is the keyless keypad that only locks/unlocks the latch. You can block the latch with the red plastic handle inside. From the outside you have the option to lock/unlock the deadbolt with a manual key, number pad or key fob (when this mode is activated from the door inner panel). You will then notice another lock on the outside facing up to lock the doorknob. The keypad and key fobs will NOT work when the door handle latch is facing up. This is only possible with a commercially available key from the outside. There is no way to lock/unlock the locking handle when inside. The only way to lock from the inside is with a deadbolt. However, you run the risk of being locked out if you close the door with the latch locked and don't have a manual key. Your touchpad does not communicate with a standard lock. And therefore. I'll probably only really use the bolt when I'm away, or to be safe, when I'm stopped and sleeping inside overnight. All that said, I don't have a keyboard, the grip/latch work isn't a deal breaker. It would be nice to be able to lock yourself twice from the inside. Maybe other models offer this? But only installed for a day so far I am still very happy with my purchase and impressed with the durability and quality of this door lock.
