Packaging Says "Perma-Coil" Another Name Under Thread Repair Don't Believe It. I have successfully used heli coils to repair cast iron motor heads. I was trying to fix a bolt hole in a cast iron carburetor using a perma coil kit. The coils in this kit are poorly made, not wound tightly enough to fit a 3/8 socket tool, and too soft for even basic work. After 3 threads, the shaft straightened up again and again. I gave up after the 6th roll. I'll stick with heli coil products.
