I bought this to put in a lamp with a three position switch for standard lamps. Switch positions: off, dimmed, on. The problem with these lamps with this type of dimmer is that some lamps turn on immediately when in the dim position, some take a while to warm up to full brightness, and some never turn on. The best dimmer for these bulbs is a constant adjustable dimmer, so you can turn it up until the bulb turns on and then dim it down to the level you want. For what I have, I can also use non-dimmable lamps, or if I'm ambitious, replace the switch in the lamp with a stepless dimmer.
