A siphon is a siphon, and all siphons obey the same physical laws that make them work. But some are more equal than others, and this is the greatest of all equals. It's very well made from quality materials that are made in the USA, but the many accessories that come with this device give it many features not available in other devices. The hose is made of clear, durable ⅝" vinyl made in the USA. Some other devices also have a ⅝-inch hose, but these are few and far between. If the tubing is too small and/or too easy to compress, the siphon simply won't work. This device, like some others, is equipped with a hand pump with a blower to start the suction or to use it as a full hand pump when vacuum use is not an option. The difference is this is the largest hand pump I have ever seen with the highest flow rate I have ever seen. The Bulb hand pump lets you connect and disconnect tubing with a simple hand squeeze - no clamps. This is useful in many situations - some of which are listed below. The hand pump has a one-way valve that prevents liquid from returning to the source once it has entered this hose. More on that later. The device hose is equipped with a "jigger foot" that allows you to create a siphon effect by simply "pumping" the source hose up and down to fill the source hose with liquid. This solution itself is provided by some others, but my experience with it hasn't been good. This "jigger leg" is also a one-way valve and its importance will be described later. The package includes accessories to secure the source tubing in the container, twisted wire to prevent pinching when the source tubing exits the source container, and a stabilizing tool. to stabilize the hose in the target container. Unlike other units, a manual shut-off valve is provided. It has huge possibilities, some of which will be discussed. Finally, the device comes with a hose coupler in case you want to cut the hose apart and then reconnect the hose. When you combine all of these features, you have a system that is only limited by your imagination. Connecting / disconnecting the balloon The pump with the balloon is attached to the tubing by friction. This allows you to use it depending on the situation. Install it to use the hand pump. Remove to increase flow in vacuum mode. Jigger hand pump and one-way foot valve These valves mean that liquid pumped into the hose does not return to the source by gravity. This means you can stop the flow and not have to re-flash the system if you want to start it again. Manual shut-off valve A manual shut-off valve is provided. This means that you can stop the thread at any time and start it again at any time. This is an excellent system and deserves your attention. There's more, but I'm tired of writing.
