I would give 5 stars for the customer service that I have only received from Jillian Wilde. I'm sure many publishers would have published it anyway). The unexpected turn of events forced me to act fairly quickly, and I was concerned that the deck would not reach me. Gillian got in touch and after a few emails we decided it would arrive on time. A few days later Jillian emailed me again to let me know that Revane had received the deck early and if I wanted to order from them they would cancel my pre-order as this would ensure I would receive the deck in time . This service alone from the deck maker deserves 5 stars. But it's also a beautiful, insightful, and highly readable deck. High-quality cardboard with a velvety-soft, matte surface. They will take a minute to work with, but that's the price of quality card stock. Overall the art is pretty good, and I personally like the reasonable amount of white. It seems clean and accurate. As with any deck, some cards are stronger than others. The Three of Swords is the most beautiful card in the deck. Pamela Colman Smith's original is iconic and is copied almost exactly in subsequent decks. The Three of Swords of the Naked Heart pay homage to their grandmother, but are entirely separate entities. I'm sure there have been tattoos of it before and if Jillian wants to print money she could very well do that with this design like putting it on a t-shirt, hat, t-shirt, phone case or whatever put Buy. Even people who think "taro" rhymes with "carrot" or think "Naked Heart" is an '80s hair metal band or a sequel to a David Cronenberg movie will fall for it. That's a good work of art. The dish is really well made and has a unity and consistency that I appreciate. I usually get annoyed when the classic Arcana titles are replaced for thematic reasons, but in this case it doesn't really bother me and the new titles go together pretty well. The deck shuffles beautifully and reads pretty straight forward, at least to me, which I prefer. However, when read in conjunction with the definitions in the accompanying guide, the directness softens and allows the mind to wander a little more. Even if you're an experienced reader, you'll want to do this at least once, as there are some nuances and ideas that I never considered. The Guide is also a catalyst for the healing properties built into the deck. This guide may seem small, but it packs a lot of information. I don't work with crystals. I tried and quickly became frustrated, but the methods Gillian describes make me want to try again. I heard this deck has been compared to The Wild Unknown and Lumina. Having owned all three decks, I have to confirm that all three are indeed their own creatures. Yes, they're black and white with pops of color (Naked Heart's colors are the brightest, by the way), but their energies and voices are very different. Wild Unknown is much rougher around the edges, and many of its cards felt like early drafts to me. Lumina's guidebook seemed geared towards privileged white women (just my opinion), and while it contained some amazing maps, it felt a little bland and soulless. The Bare Heart had the clearest voice, suit, and leader, and while not every card works - Might and Chariot - the lowest points for me are - the cards that work - the aforementioned Three of Swords, Ace of Wands , Heavenly Father , 9 of Pentacles - is stunning. While I feel that any reader is doing themselves a disservice by not learning the standard RWS deck, Gillian has enough instructions for someone who has never dealt with cards before to use this deck and will be using this one soon to be able to read a deck, but only from this deck. I think that would be an ideal second or third deck, or an additional first deck, but I don't want to start with RWS either. It wasn't my first deck. But my second deck was acquired very quickly. Overall, Jillian has created a very special deck at a very affordable price. Decks of this production caliber typically start at $60. It's a bright, sleek, beautiful little deck and Jillian really cares about her customers.
