Review on Schwinn Day Tripper and Porter Cargo Bike Trailer: Tow Behind with Multiple Colors - No Kids or Animals Allowed by Troy Hamilton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Just a big problem, but I figured it out.

For the most part this trailer is a really good product. It's light, easy to tow and can hold more cargo than I expected. I have yet to get the full 110 pounds out, but I was able to get out two 5 gallon water bottles very easily. Make sure that there is enough air in the tires, because that is what matters under heavy loads. However, there are a few things that could make it better. First of all, the nylon tarpaulin used as a cover needs to be slightly larger so that it can easily support oversized loads. As it stands now, a gallon of milk is pushing it to the limit. Slightly higher walls also help solve this problem. It has rings inside that you can use with bungee cords, which is very helpful with this problem. The only major issue I had was security. They offered no way of protecting him. It's really hard to lock down; However, I was able to use a padlock instead of a pin to attach it to my bike. I've added a photo to show how it was made. This lock has a 1 and 9/16 inch shackle and it was barely enough. One thing that makes me nervous is the quick release wheels. They are too easy to steal. I think if Schwinn thinks about the people who need it to go to the grocery store instead of the car, I think it'll help them do a lot better.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Unreliable
