As other reviewers have said, this gate does not install cleanly. When you finally get it, it won't be strong at all. No matter what I did (add spacers, extra zip ties, adjust height, drill holes, etc.) nothing worked. It wouldn't turn off, and it wouldn't stay where it is. Our little one opened it immediately at every check. I'm a big fan of summer products; The other 8 gates we have in our house belong to this brand. However, this particular model just doesn't cut it.

Took about an hour to install. The instructions are decent, but if you're installing them on railings, they're overlooking a few key steps that are required for the gate to function properly. I gave this product one star for one reason. The top cam locks on my gates were loose. What does it mean when the top of the gate can slide inwards, meaning the top latch will not latch! After reading the reviews, it turned out that the gate was very easy to set up. The instructions are also very simple and clear. Others who have had the same setup (top stair railing on one side, baseboard wall on the other) have suggested using shims to align the gate to the wall (so there is no problem with the baseboard) and it works Well. Once installed it is very easy to use and looks pretty good. Issues: My first came with a broken corner on the box and a broken hinge in that area. Revane was fantastic about the replacement. A second came and the same part was not stamped to the correct shape. Thankfully the gate still works and minimally impacts functionality, so I proceeded with the install and left it. I really wanted to like this gate. Systems for attaching gates to railings without drilling are very effective and simple. Installation was a bit of a hassle - you need to get it right if you want the gate to open and close properly. I ended up having to add spacers between the tops of the gate and the railing. We installed this gate about 2 months ago. I cannot fully vouch for the installation, but my husband did it quickly enough. We installed it in the wall on one side and around the railing on the other. My biggest complaint is that there is nothing attached to the locking mechanism on the side of the railing, so after a few openings of the gate, which consists of pulling up and towards you, the mechanism slides up. This product works well from railing to railing and from railing to wall. I would imagine this would work well wall to wall. Also, you don't have to drill the railing, which I really liked.
