Great product for all types of stairs without drilling the railing.

This product works well from railing to railing and from railing to wall. I would imagine this would work well wall to wall. Also, you don't have to drill the railing, which I really liked. First, I had no problem attaching it to the railing at the base of my stairs. The instructions were very clear and everything was set up in no time. The only reason I gave it four stars is the need to make modifications to get it working properly from banister to wall at the top of my stairs. Again, it was easy to attach it to the railing, drill holes and attach to the wall. The square blocks they use to keep the plank off the wall when placed next to an embankment failed miserably. I ended up just removing them and it worked much better. The problem I had was that my railing lined up right down the middle of the last step before I reached the top level. If I climbed up there, there would be a gap between the stairs and the gate for my baby to crawl through and get stuck. My first idea was to simply tilt the gate or simply turn it 180 degrees. It did not work. The gate had to swing out longer to reach the ledges, which put extra stress on the latch end and caused the gate to not close properly. This is because the bottom latches barely need to engage to allow you to open and close where the top latch latches the gate. My final modification was to take a 4x4 and zip it to the railing myself. I then attached the straps and bar to the 4x4 wheel. This greatly reduced the length of the gate and they could close normally. Overall I am very satisfied with the product. My 3.5 year old can open and close it easily. My baby is now safe and cannot climb stairs or fall down. Over time I will remove the 4x4 and paint it. Just had to make sure it was working properly first.
